GMAT

A jar contains only red and blue marbles in a ratio of 2:8. If there are 48 blue marbles, how many red marbles are there?

Correct answer

B. 12

Explanation

The ratio 2:8 means for every 8 blue marbles there are 2 red. 48 blue ÷ 8 = 6 groups, so red marbles = 2 × 6 = 12.
