GMAT

A jar contains only red and blue marbles in a ratio of 9:5. If there are 30 blue marbles, how many red marbles are there?

Correct answer

A. 54

Explanation

The ratio 9:5 means for every 5 blue marbles there are 9 red. 30 blue ÷ 5 = 6 groups, so red marbles = 9 × 6 = 54.
