GMAT

A jar contains only red and blue marbles in a ratio of 8:6. If there are 30 blue marbles, how many red marbles are there?

Correct answer

D. 40

Explanation

The ratio 8:6 means for every 6 blue marbles there are 8 red. 30 blue ÷ 6 = 5 groups, so red marbles = 8 × 5 = 40.
