GMAT

A jar contains only red and blue marbles in a ratio of 7:9. If there are 36 blue marbles, how many red marbles are there?

Correct answer

B. 28

Explanation

The ratio 7:9 means for every 9 blue marbles there are 7 red. 36 blue ÷ 9 = 4 groups, so red marbles = 7 × 4 = 28.
