GMAT

A jar contains only red and blue marbles in a ratio of 2:7. If there are 56 blue marbles, how many red marbles are there?

Correct answer

D. 16

Explanation

The ratio 2:7 means for every 7 blue marbles there are 2 red. 56 blue ÷ 7 = 8 groups, so red marbles = 2 × 8 = 16.
